The primary objective of this COST Action was to analyse how placemaking activities re-imagine and reinvent public space and improve citizens’ involvement in urban planning.
It also analysed the role and potential of digital tools to record, transform, produce, and disseminate a citizens’ knowledge about the urban spaces throughout Europe’s cities.
DSLL’s Founding Director Stavri Nikolov, together with other placemaking researchers from the Action, contributed to this project by:
1) studying how architects and urbanists could use LLcloud – the multisensor cloud, for placemaking research and exploration in many major European cities and for in-situ multi-sensor data gathering of geo-located data (photo, audio, video) to create city stories and tours.
2) scalable gender balance analysis of street names in cities using multi-sensor data and AI. In this new approach, researchers from the COST Action used AI platforms and APIs with AI trained models for name gender analysis, together with the LLcloud platform.
